Welcome
This module will give more information about the steps described in Module 1, particularly on sampling design, production of information, and data management in the water quality monitoring programme. This module is designed to build practical skills and regional capacity in managing, analysing, and sharing coastal and marine water quality data. Participants will gain knowledge and experience in data analysis and organisation, with a focus on supporting evidence-based decision-making and effective stakeholder engagement in the Caribbean region. Through practical sessions, participants will be introduced to time-series analysis, spatial mapping, and the use of analysis. The course also introduces remote sensing applications in water quality monitoring and provides guidance on good practices for data reporting, documentation, and visualisation.
Note:
This course builds on the concepts presented in the:
- High-Level Course on Marine and Coastal Water Quality Management.
- Course 1: Water Quality Parameters and Monitoring Design
If you have not yet completed that course, please do so before starting this course.
After finishing this module, you should be able to:
- Determine the sampling design of a water quality monitoring program fit for your needs
- Identify the types of data and tools of a water quality monitoring program
- Have basic information to estimate the database and digitation requirement for your water quality monitoring program
- Have basic information to identify the list of relevant organisations or institutions relevant to your water quality monitoring program
